Conti Vecchi Salt Works And Lunch at the Shepherd’s
Visiting Conti Vecchi Salt-works will bring you back to the last century when Sardinia was shocked by wars, hunger, poverty and attempts to industrialize the island.
Thanks to FAI you will visit the old mechanic shop, offices, chemical labs; we will have a miniature train tour along the lagoon between pink flamingoes and salt mountains to understand how salt is made.
The salt-works are placed in the Lagoon Santa Gilla, one of the most important wetland and natural habitat in Europe for its biodiversity: here live hundreds of bird species and the undisputed king, the Pink flamingo!
Our trip ends in nature, surrounded by the mountains and the perfumes of the Mediterranean vegetation, where we will have a delicious lunch at the shepherd’s. We will get in touch with one of the most typical reality of the Island: pastoralism and conviviality.
